Organic Chemistry Postdoctoral Position USA

A post-doctoral position that is funded by the Simons Collaboration on the Origins of Life will be available starting June 2015. The candidate should have strong synthetic organic chemistry background with an interest in the questions on the origins of life as describe here https://www.simonsfoundation.org/funding/funding-opportunities/life-sciences/collaboration-on-the-origins-of-life-investigator-award/critical-questions-concerning-the-origins-of-life/.

Research in the Krishnamurthy lab encompasses a broad spectrum of synthetic chemistry and methodology applied to understanding the chemistry associated with the origins of life. This project involves the investigation of small molecule chemistry under aqueous conditions (green chemistry) and discovery of novel and alternative pathways that contributes to the understanding of chemical evolution.

Research Associates are appointed positions for the purpose of developing scholarly competence, working under the supervision of a TSRI Faculty member. These appointments are normally not renewed beyond a total of six years. Research Associates cannot apply for external funding either as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator without prior approval from a Departmental Chair. Research Associates do not have consulting privileges.

Qualified candidates should have a PhD in organic chemistry and be well grounded in analytical techniques. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator. The applicant should have a strong synthetic organic chemistry (an emphasis on methodology) with experience in analytical techniques.

Interested parties should email their CV and a description of their research interests to Prof. Ram Krishnamurthy at rkrishna@scripps.edu and should have three letters of reference forwarded on their behalf. Applicants should, in their cover letter, address what their scientific interests and goals are and how (a) they align with this specific project and (b) this position would help in attaining the long term goals.

You may apply for a postdoctoral appointment by contacting the principal investigator listed in each postdoctoral vacancy.
