Open positions for Ph.D and postdoc fellowship: Current there are several postdoc positions available in the following subjects:
1) Urgent call: Atomic structure characterization and chemical analysis of emerging novel materials. A successful candidate should have a strong background in experimental electron microscopy and associated spectroscpy. She/he will work closely with a few groups from Physics Department on superconductors, Weyl semimetals, and topological insulators etc;
2) development and applications of liquid-cell STEM, TEM in nanomaterials. Our primary research interests are to reveal the nucleation and growth mechanism of nanocrystal in solution. Strong background either on electron microscopy or chemical synthesis is required;
3) To understand the radiation chemistry associated with energetic electrons-water interactions, a key factor influencing the reactions in liquid-cell S/TEM;
4) To study the atomic and electronic structures of “old” carbon nanostructures, like peapods, doped graphene etc. A successful candidate is preferred to have some background with these materials, and some training on electron microscopy. The whole project will be conducted in close collaboration with a few research groups, including Dr. Sumio Iijima.
