  2. A MSc in Engineering, or other advanced degree, including at least 60 credits in computer science.

Finally, the student must be judged to have the potential to complete the programme.

It is an advantage to have a Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering, with a specialization in software.

Additional prerequisites are: Excellent knowledge of programming languages, object-oriented modeling, compiler construction, distributed systems, real-time programming, algorithms, data security and mathematics. Excellent software development skills.

Practical experience from constructing distributed systems is an advantage.

The applicant must have excellent communication skills, and be fluent in English in both speech and writing. Corresponding knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

Selection for PhD studies is based on the student’s potential to profit from such studies. The assessment of this potential is made primarily on the basis of academic results. Special attention is paid to the following:

  2. An assessment of ability to work independently and to formulate and tackle research problems. The assessment could be made on the basis of the student’s degree project and a discussion of this at a possible interview.
  3. Written and oral communication skills
  4. Other experience relevant to PhD studies, e.g. professional experience.
