Post-Doctoral Fellow in protein structure and protein-ligand binding study at Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science, University of Alberta

General Information: A Postdoctoral position in protein structure and protein-ligand binding study is immediately available in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science at the University of Alberta. Research in laboratory focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying protein-protein and protein-ligand and protein-polysaccharide interactions. We apply Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Circular dichroism (CD), Fluorescence spectroscopy and other biochemical and biophysical approaches to determine the protein confirmations and their interactions with polysaccharides and small molecules for food and health applications. The appointment is for two years with possibility for extension.

Required Qualification:

A Ph.D. in macromolecular science, polymer chemistry and physics or biochemistry. Experience of using chromatography techniques. Familiarity with general analytical techniques used in characterizing proteins.

Desirable:

  • Experience of applying various biophysical techniques in protein structure, protein-polysaccharide, protein-ligand interaction characterization, including FTIR, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism spectroscopy and Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).
  • A strong track record of refereed journal publications.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.

How to Apply: Candidates should submit a cover letter, CV and the names and contact information (address, phone number and email address) of three referees to:
