Postdoctoral Position in the Field of Metal Photo-chemistry/Mass Spectrometry, EU Horizon 2020: The successful applicant for this position will be working in an interdisciplinary project spanning from metal photo-chemistry/organic synthesis and mass spectrometry. Fundamental understanding and exploration of the analytical potential of photo-active metals in the field of pharmaceutical peptide synthesis is the main objective of this project.

This includes investigation of novel routes of producing post-translational modifications to pharmaceutical relevant peptides. Affinity and selectivity of various metal compounds to functional groups in polypeptides will also be studied. The project embarks on state-of-the-art mass spectrometric techniques such as orbitrap mass spectrometry utilizing advanced peptide/protein fragmentation techniques of synthetic peptide libraries.

The project is part of a major ERC grant which implies close collaboration and knowledge sharing between the project researches. The position is for two years with possibility of extension. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and be self-motivated.

Requirements: To qualify you must have passed a PhD or equivalent. Applications will be assessed by an expert assessor/committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.

A prerequisite for application submission is a strong background in chemistry/protein chemistry/proteomics with documented experience in mass spectrometry. Applicants are expected to be highly motivated, reliable and interested in working in an interdisciplinary and international environment. A good command of English is a requirement.

More information. The Protein Research Group offers a strong international research environment in protein chemistry, biomolecular mass spectrometry, and functional proteomics.

This position is subject to the entry into force of grant agreement no 646603 by and between the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) and University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and thereby funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
