Postdoctoral Opportunity at International Agency for Research on Cancer, World Health Organization in the SECTION OF GENETICS / GENETIC EPIDEMIOLOGY GROUP. The Genetic Epidemiology Group (GEP) investigates lifestyle and genetic factors involved in cancer in diverse populations, with the aim of contributing to primary prevention of cancer.

These objectives are achieved through collaborative international epidemiological and genomic studies, which integrate large scale epidemiology studies and high throughput genomic methods in a multidisciplinary approach (e.g. genome-wide association studies, whole genome sequencing, and serological biomarkers).

An important aim of the group is developing risk prediction models than can accurately identify those individuals most likely to benefit from cancer screening. In order to achieve this aim the group is currently generating large-scale data on a wide range of circulating risk biomarkers (serological, genetic, and genomics markers) within some of the largest cohort studies worldwide.

Requirements: Successful candidates should have a strong background in epidemiological analysis techniques and biostatistics, in particular with respect to analysis of biomarker data and/or cohort data, as well as having a good command of English. Experience in developing risk prediction models using prospective cohort data would be an asset.

The postdoctoral opportunity is initially for one year with possibility of renewal for candidates who have completed a Ph.D. or who have acquired equivalent training. The IARC stipend is currently €2750 per month. The cost of travel for the Fellow, and in certain circumstances for dependants, will be met, a dependant’s allowance paid, and health insurance covered.

Application / Further information: Applicants should send a CV, including list of publications and a description of previous research experience, as well as the names and addresses of two academic referees, preferably by email to:

Email: iohanssonm@iarc.fr (please mention in the title or you email “Postdoctoral opportunity – Risk prediction studies”)
