Postdoctoral Fellowship: Microbiology at Ismagilov and Mazmanian Groups, University of California
Caltech invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship in the area of microbiology. The successful candidate will conduct an independent, interdisciplinary research program focusing on host‐bacterial interactions in the laboratory of Dr. Rustem Ismagilov in close collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Sarkis K. Mazmanian.
The goal of the project is to understand the role of spatial structure in microbe‐microbe and host‐microbe interactions and use this understanding to control these interactions.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in microbiology or closely related field and must have an interest in interdisciplinary research. A strong background in working with anaerobes is preferred and a strong understanding of anaerobic microbial biochemistry is preferred. Experience in working with murine models and / or experience in working with germ‐free animals is preferred. The successful candidate should have an exceptional publication record, excellent communication skills. Salary and benefits are highly competitive. Starting dates for the position are negotiable, but since the position is immediately available, there is a strong preference for early appointments.
