Postdoc position in Optical Fibre Fabrication

A Research Fellow position is available for a highly motivated and talented researcher with a strong interest in optical fiber technology, photonics materials and devices to work on the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded program.

The project has the goal to develop novel optical fibers for next generation of optical communications, and fiber lasers and amplifiers. Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in Materials Science/Physics/Chemistry/Engineering and excellent experimental skills. Knowledge of MCVD/OVD/VAD based fiber fabrication technique would be beneficial for this position. The ability to work as part of a highly interactive interdisciplinary research team is essential.

The salary will be commensurate with the qualification and experience. The current salary is in the range £28,695 to £35,256 per annum on Level 4 of the Education, Research and Enterprise scale. The initial appointment will be for 2 years and potential for further extension beyond this.
