CCTS Clinical Scholar Application program by the Rockefeller University. Applications are now open for the 2016 ( Applications will be accepted till July 2016). The Rockefeller University is a world-renowned center for research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences.

The university’s 76 independent laboratories pursue transformative discoveries in both basic and clinical research and study a diverse range of biological and biomedical problems with the mission of improving the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Laboratories are loosely clustered in nine research areas covering a wide spectrum of disciplines in the life sciences, including neuroscience, immunology, genetics, structural biology and bioinformatics.

Requirements for Admission:

  • The Masters in Clinical and Translational Investigation Clinical Scholars program is designed to prepare outstanding physician-scientists for independent careers in clinical and patient-oriented translational research.
  • The program is designed to provide an optimal environment and mentoring structure for the Clinical Scholar to develop the experience and capabilities necessary to initiate an independent career as a patient-oriented and translational investigator.
  • A doctoral degree in a clinical area of expertise is a prerequisite for entering this program (MD, DDS, PhD in Psychology or Nursing).
  • Applicants should be able to document a high degree of achievement in their chosen discipline. Applicants must be prepared to engage directly in graduate studies through advanced course work, appropriate laboratory work, and clinical investigation.
  • Accepted Clinical Scholars will receive free tuition, a stipend commensurate with their level of training, affordable housing near our attractive campus, health coverage and an allowance for research, books, and meetings.

Application Procedure:

  • The Rockefeller University’s Clinical Scholars Program has an Online Application System (OAS).
  • Applications are welcome at any time. Currently, we are considering candidates to begin the program in July 2016. If there are extenuating circumstances that make an earlier start date necessary, please contact Ms. Michelle Romanick atmromanick@rockefeller.edu or (212) 327-7316.
  • To begin the application process you must first register for an account. Once you have completed your registration, you will receive e-mail notification that your registration has been accepted. This e-mail message will contain a link to validate your registration and allow you to continue with your application submission.
  • The next step is to complete all of the required fields for each section of the application form. You will be asked to submit contact information for a minimum of two referees who will be asked to provide letters of reference on your behalf. Once this is completed, you may proceed with uploading your application materials.
  • We will contact the referees you list for letters of reference as soon as your application has been submitted.
  • You must provide a Personal Statement describing, in two to four double-spaced pages, your academic background, research experience, and career goals with particular attention to what motivates you to seek a career in clinical and translational research. All applicants are asked to submit their Personal Statement in PDF format. If you do not have the tools needed to create PDF files, you may use the Word to PDF converter we have provided on the Documents page of the application.
  • The application process is not complete until the committee receives a letter from your proposed Rockefeller University mentor recommending your appointment and indicating both the human subjects project you will work on and your mentor’s and your plan for your career development. If you have already selected a mentor, please ask your mentor to send the letter. If you do not have a mentor but have identified potential mentors, please contact the potential mentors directly to discuss the possibility of your joining their lab. If you want additional information about potential mentors, contact Dr. Coller at collerb@rockefeller.edu. The Rockefeller University Heads of Laboratories can be viewed athttp://www.rockefeller.edu/research/faculty/labheads/.
  • Your application is considered complete when we have received the completed application form, the required application materials, two letters of reference, and the mentor’s letter. The Search Committee will not review incomplete applications.
