Postdoctoral position to study Atmospheric physics, Chemical and Dynamic meteorology and Climate Research

 

The Department of Meteorology at Stockholm University (MISU) invites candidates to propose a 2-year project in Climate Research to be conducted at MISU within the Bolin Centre for Climate Research. 

At MISU (www.misu.su.se) we conduct research and education in an international environment within four main areas: Atmospheric physics, Chemical and Dynamic meteorology, and Physical oceanography. In all these areas there is a strong focus on the climate and on processes important for the climate and its development. The department employs some 80 individuals, of which about 35 are scientists, 30 PhD students and 15 in the administration and technical support.

The department is part of the Bolin Centre for Climate Research (www.bolin.su.se) that together with three other departments at the university cover research of most of the important aspects of the climate system.

Project description

The position is open in a wide field of climate research. We expect the candidates to submit a brief project plan (one or a few pages) for a climate research project, developed in communication with one of the scientists at the department (see list of contacts atwww.pp-prod-admin.it.su.se/preview/www/2.2982/2.3115/2.3156/2.3163/2.4467/2.39794).

Assessment criteria

The candidate must have obtained a PhD degree in a relevant field of science. In addition to the scientific merits, the quality of the project plan will be an important tool for assessing the applicants. The applicant should also have excellent English language skills, both oral and written communication.

Terms of employment

The position is full time for a maximum of two years. The preferred starting date is 1st of September, 2015.
