You will be operating within our Process Technology SRG, one of three Strategic Research Groups in the Business Area Specialty Chemicals whose role is to create new technological opportunities for breakthrough innovations. Each SRG works in partnership with a Business Unit RD&I team to turn sustainable technology into money. Situated in the Netherlands they contain the innovative power to direct our entire organization towards a profitable future. You will be working in the Group’s laboratories in Deventer, the Netherlands. Within the Process Technology SRG, we focus on creating breakthrough processes and technologies, optimizing existing processes and defining scale-up rules. With excellent modeling tools for creating insight from nano scale to plant scale and with state-of-the-art laboratory and pilot facilities, you will have all the essentials to transform initial concepts into practical solutions for AkzoNobel and our customers. Working within an inter-disciplinary, business-led team, your principal role will be to deliver cost-effective solutions on time, on target and on budget. Achieving successful breakthrough innovation

We will look to you to explore alternative and novel technologies, together with process concepts by means of experimentation and modeling. You will deliver conceptual designs and process innovation, development and optimization. Experimentation will be based on and validated by experimental results gathered by your colleagues or yourself or via external collaborations.

Applicants for this position meet the following criteria:

  1. PhD (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering/Process Technology with relevant experience;
  2. You must have a broad knowledge of and experience in heterogeneous catalysis and catalysis engineering combined with a strong back ground in process technology;
  3. Thorough insight in chemical reactions and reactor design is preferred;
  4. You have a passion for research combined with a drive to bring the developed technology into our plants;
  5. You have the people and communication skills necessary to carry out and lead projects while working collaboratively across boundaries;
  6. You are able to think differently and have a continuous drive to improve yourself.
