United Kingdom: Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU): Glasgow Caledonian University also known as GCU or Caledonian is a public university in Glasgow, Scotland. It was formed in 1993 by the merger of The Queen’s College, Glasgow (started in 1875) & Glasgow Polytechnic (started in 1971). As per the survey done in 2015 it is one of Scotland’s largest universities with nearly 20,000 students. It is regularly ranked among the UK’s top 10 modern universities.
Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize laureate was appointed Chancellor of the University in 2012, as the first non-British international figure to hold the office of University Chancellor in Scottish history.
In 2015 an Independent research was carried out which revealed that the University contributes over £480m to Scotland’s economy.
It’s the first University in Scotland to be awarded the status of ‘Changemaker Campus’ by Ashoka U. It’s a University dedicated to developing education and helping people worldwide.
The student community brings together people from over 100 countries. The University has partners across the globe, including China, India, North and South America, Bangladesh and Oman. It has campuses in New York, London & Glasgow.
