United States India Education Foundation (USIEF) offers the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for international teachers (Fulbright DAI). The awards are sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State.

About the program:
  • The program will bring approximately 54 international teachers to the U.S. for a semester. For international teachers, the program is open to teachers from Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Finland, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Philippines, Senegal, Singapore, Taiwan and Uganda.
  • Up to four teachers from India will participate in the program.
  • Fulbright DAI is a semester-long non-degree, non-credit, professional development program at a U.S. university.
  • Selected international participants will be placed at a U.S. host university School of Education from January 2019 to May 2019
Eligibility:
  • Applicant must be a citizen of India and reside in India at the time of application.
  • Applicant must be qualified to obtain/hold a valid Indian passport.
  • The applicant must be living and teaching in the states of Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli;
  • The applicant must hold at least a bachelor’s degree and teacher training degree will be preferred.
  • The applicant must be a full-time teacher teaching any subject at any level (primary, middle, secondary or senior secondary).
  • The applicant must have completed at least five years of full-time teaching experience at the program start.
  • The applicant must be primary and secondary level library media specialists, guidance counselors, curriculum specialists, special education coordinators, and administrators who spend at least fifty percent of their time teaching or working directly with students may also apply to the program.
  • Candidates who are teacher trainers are eligible to apply.
  • The applicant must demonstrate good English language proficiency and a commitment to continue teaching or working in their field after completion of the program;
