Anglo-Israel Asso., Wyndham Deedes Travel Scholarship 1353 views

Anglo-Israel Association every year grants a limited number of travel scholarships to Israel. The Scholarship is in memory of its Founder, the late Brigadier Sir Wyndham Deedes. The goal of the awards is to empower graduates of British universities, who are normally resident in the UK to make a rigorous study of some aspect, (sociological, scientific, cultural, economic, etc.) of life in Israel. The study should be in an area that would be of direct interest to those working in that field in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be graduated from a British university and must be under 35 years of age.
  • Applicants first time visiting Israel will be given preference.
  • Scholarships are not to be used for the backing of full-time degree courses at Universities in Israel.
  • Subjects should be of a secular rather than a religious nature.
  • Short course or activity at an Israeli university is permitted if it forms part of a degree course at a British University.
  • Medical Students wanting to study some aspects of hospitals or the health service in general for a short period will also be considered.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Applicants must agree to spend at least 6 weeks in Israel within 12 months of the date of the award and also submit a report on their project of not less than 5,000 words within one year of the date of their return from Israel.
  • Anglo-Israel Association reserves all the rights to publish the reports.
  • Students may publish their findings in professional journals or off-line, mount exhibitions or lecture to their relevant professional body.

  • Completed application form
  • Relevant reference on headed notepaper from university or employer
  • Letter of invitation on headed notepaper from your sponsor/s in Israel.
  • Covering letter about yourself and reasons to travel to Israel. The letter must contain applicant’s full name, current address and contact details.
  • On the form applicants must include a short statement (min. 300 words) about the proposed study, giving the names of individuals and of institutions keen to advice and assist.
