Post-doctoral position in Computational Chemistry is available within the Computational and Chemical Biology Research Line of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Genoa lead by Prof. Andrea Cavalli.

The successful applicant will play a significant role in developing and applying computational approaches, such as free energy methods, to biophysical and drug discovery related issues.

Eligible candidates should have a Ph.D. degree and experience in Computational Physics/Chemistry, a strong statistical mechanics background is critical.

Excellent communication skills in English, as well as marked enthusiasm for research and creativity, are mandatory. The successful candidate should have substantial previous experiences in molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, free energy methods, and enhanced sampling methods.

Experience in Fortran/C/C++/python development is fundamental. Knowledge of the drug discovery process will be considered a plus, as well as the capability to understand and interpret experimental data from in vitro and in vivo pharmacological assays to molecular and structural biology.

Postdoctoral position in photovoltaic devices for biological cell-chip coupling

A post-doctoral position will be available at the Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Health Care, IIT@CRIB in Naples (www.iit.it/centers/cabhc-crib-napoli) within the Tissue Electronics Research Line.

The Center integrates multidisciplinary expertise ranging from Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Biology and Pharmacology. Laboratories are equipped with cutting-edge instrumentations for molecular and material synthesis, micro- and nano-fabrication, surface and morphological characterization, along with state-of-art equipment for cell and molecular biology.

We are looking for a postdoctoral candidate with strong experimental experience, who will participate in a project on coupling biological cells with 3D organic photovoltaic devices.

The ideal candidate should have:

– PhD in Engineering/Material Science/Chemistry, or related disciplines with a strong academic background and publication record;

– Consolidate experience on material synthesis, fabrication and characterization of organic solar cells;

– Knowledge of cleanroom-based patterning techniques;

– Sound knowledge of biological cell culture and cell-chip bioelectronic coupling.

Researcher position in design and fabrication of wearable electronic transducers

Eligible candidates should be experienced scientist with a Ph.D. and a strong background in micro and nanofabrication and expertise in the design, fabrication and realization of MEMS and transducers for wearable (bio)sensing.

Applicants will be engaged in the design and fabrication of specialized devices, such as smart patches and electronic tattoos, for both physical sensors and actuators on skin and for biochemical sensors (electrochemical sensors, mechanical resonators, microfluidic integrated devices …) for sweat monitoring. Skills on clean-room micro/nanofabrication processes and experience on device simulation and test are requested.

The successful candidate will join a highly interdisciplinary group active on the development of smart micro and nanotools and sensors and will have access to technologically advanced instrumentation for research (clean room facility and instruments, test and packaging equipment, FIB/SEM dual beam system, advanced microscopy).

Post-doc opening in autonomous navigation for mobile robots

Required qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Robotics or related fields;
  • Good knowledge of programming languages such as, C/C++, Java, Python, Lua;
  • Theoretical background and hands-on experience on navigation and localization techniques (SLAM) based on Lidar or RGBD sensors;
  • Good communication skills and ability to cooperate within a team.

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of middlewares for robotics (e.g. YARP, ROS);
  • Experience with ROS navigation stack and localization modules, such as: gmapping, AMCL, RGBDslam, RTABmap etc.;
  • Knowledge of Computer Vision and OpenCV library;
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques.
