Government of India (UPSC) invites applications for the post of Scientist B in Biology at Directorate of Forensic Science Services.

Number of post: 01 (UR)

Salary for Scientist B position:

  • (Pre-revised pay scale PB – 3, Rs.15600 – 39100/- GP – 5,400/-) Revised Pay Scale Level – 10 in pay matrix as per 7th CPC).
  • Total emoluments excluding T.A. and HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 56,100/-p.m. approximately.

Age limits:

  • upper age limit is 35 years as on normal closing date
  • Relaxable for regularly appointed Central / UT Govt. servants upto 5 years as per the instructions issued by the Govt. of India from time to time.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Applicant must hold Master’s Degree in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Physical Anthropology, Forensic Science, Genetics with Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects at Bachelor of Science level from a recognized University.
  • Applicant must have 3 year experience of analytical methods and research therein in the field of Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / working in DNA Laboratory in any Central Government or State Government organization or recognized research institute or Forensic Science Laboratory under the Central or State Government.
  • Note: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in a Forensic Science Laboratory.

  • General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
  • The post is permanent.
