ADB – Japan Scholarship Program: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) – Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan.
It aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries* to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region.
Broad Disciplines: Economics, management, health, education, agriculture, environment, natural resource management, science and technology, and other development-related fields.
Upon completion of their study programs, scholars are expected to contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries.
The ADB-JSP enrolls about 300 students annually in participating academic institutions located in 10 countries within the region.
The ADB-JSP provides full scholarships for one to two years.
Applicants from graduated member countries, i.e., Hong Kong, China, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, and Taipei,China, as defined under the Classification and Graduation Policy, are no longer eligible for ADB-JSP.
The JASAA is an organization composed of Alumni from ADB’s developing member countries who were awarded and completed their scholarships under ADB-Japan Scholarship Program.
Between 1988 and 2013, out of 3,104 scholarship awarded to students from 37 member countries, ADB-JSP produced 2,758 graduates. These men and women are holding key positions in government, business, education, and international organizations after the program. Each JASAA associate is now contributing to the development of his or her home country and making a positive difference in his or her own way.
