The project is part of an EU-funded Horizon 2020 project in the area of Ocean Literacy. The consortium represents key players in marine ecosystems research in the Baltic, Mediterranean, North Sea and Atlantic regions. As part of this work, we will engage in the specification and application of a process for developing knowledge-based products that are effective in supporting changes in understanding of the human-ocean relationship and in behavior.

Our main role will be in leading the development of interactive and mutual-learning ocean literacy tools across a wide variety of technology platforms, including interactive visualisations and simulations, and learning through gaming.  These tools must incorporate a monitoring and evaluation aspect which will allow us to assess resulting changes in behavior and / or understanding as they are used. The focus of this PhD work will be on the use simulation and information visualisation to achieve these goals, while also contributing to the development of the overall development process.
