The Department of Molecular Ecology at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology invites applications for a position of Research Assistant in Plant Molecular Biology.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Selected candidate will work in close collaboration with the head and technicians of the molecular platform and the international team of researchers.
- The main jobs will be simple bioinformatics support, assistance with transformation construct development, cloning and sequencing/genotyping as well as daily laboratory management.
- The selected candidate is also expected to assist in the sample preparation and data analysis of large-scale forward genetics screening experiments.
Requirements:
- Applicant must be highly organized, communicative individual who enjoys problem-solving, keeping rigorous records, and interacting with an international team of highly motivated scientists.
- Applicant must have strong background in molecular biology and bioinformatics, and interested in applying expertise in a state-of-the-art research facility.
- Applicant must also possess additional experience with QTL mapping and/or microbiology.
- Applicant must possess excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Applicant must hold B.Sc. / M.Sc. or equivalent qualification
Duration: fixed-term contract; 2 years
