Postdoctoral Scholar in Malaria Mass Spectrometry: Pennsylvania State University: Pennsylvania State University is offering a postdoctoral position from Candidates with interest in Plasmodium parasite biochemistry and metabolism for filling up the Postdoctoral Position in Malaria Mass Spectrometry- Based Metabolomics in The laboratory of Prof. Manuel Llinás at the Pennsylvania State University, Department-Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
About the Position: This highly collaborative project is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and uses mass spectrometry-based metabolomics to determine the mode of action of a wide range of effective antimalarial compounds. This position’s aim is to characterize the genetic variation underlying metabolic differences in malaria parasites, an in-depth probing of specific biochemical pathways in CRISPR-based Plasmodium mutants, the effects of antimalarial drugs, and metabolic flux through the Plasmodium metabolic network.

Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have Ph.D. Degree in biology, chemistry, or biochemistry and should possess the ability to work well with others and must have excellent organizational skills and flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and have a strong attention to detail, and strong computer skills. Prior mass spectrometry experience will be preferred.
