15 PhD Positions: TICARDIO – European Union

15 PhD positions in the biomedical Innovative Training Network “Thrombo-Inflammation in Cardiovascular Disease” (TICARDIO) at the European Union.

We offer 15 PhD positions for biomedical doctoral students within the ITN “Thrombo-Inflammation in Cardiovascular Disease” (TICARDIO), starting in October 2019. All projects are collaborative projects and will be conducted at two European research locations and the location of a non-academic (industry) partner.

TICARDIO research organizations are:

1. Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH, University Medical Center Mainz, Germany);
2. School for Cardiovascular Diseases Maastricht (CARIM, University of Maastricht, the Netherlands);
3. Center for CardioVascular and Nutrition research (C2VN, Aix-Marseille Université, France);
4. Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften, ISAS (Dortmund, Germany);

The TICARDIO partner organizationsn are:

1. Bayer, a top-20 leading pharmaceutical company, Germany
2. Boehringer Ingelheim, another top-20 leading pharmaceutical company, Germany
3. BioCytex, a French biotech company
4. Translational Oncology at the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (TRON), an academic non-profit research institution, Germany
5. 2M Engineering, a Dutch high-tech SME
6. ttopstart, a Dutch science and business consulting company

Position REQUIREMENTS

1. You have a Master degree (or equivalent) in biomedical sciences or a similar field
2. You are in the first four years of your research career and do not hold a doctoral degree
3. You must not have resided in the country where you are recruited (primary research location) for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the recruitment
4. Ideally, you have experience in cardiovascular research (for specific project requirements see.

Position Details

1. The candidate be working within our international group of > 30 researchers
2. The candidate be involved in cutting-edge research in an interdisciplinary environment
3. The candidate conduct your project at two research locations and the site of an industry partner (6-12 months stay at the second research location plus 2-3 month stay at the industry partner)
4. The candidate receive excellent network-wide and local training and will be able to participate in TICARDIO and other external conferences
5. The candidate receive a 36 months’ contract with all national social security contributions (and family allowance, if applicable) at the primary research location
6. The candidate obtain a joint doctoral degree from the two local Universities involved in your project
