The Department of Food and Resource Economics, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a two-year post doc position commencing 1st March 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
About the Project:
- The postdoc position is within an interdisciplinary research programme on the access, collection, treatment, and production of shea kernels in West Africa.
- The start of this commodity chain has historically been dominated by poorer women, but with the increasing value of the product, the commodity chain faces significant pressures of transformation.
- The overall aim of the programme is to ensure a sustainable supply of high-quality shea kernels from West Africa.
Qualifications:
- Applicants should have a PhD degree in Environmental Management, Ethnobotany, Agricultural Development, Development Studies, Geography, Economics, Anthropology or similar disciplines with theoretically informed approaches to complex empirical realities.
- The successful candidates are expected to have extensive fieldwork experience from the Global South using ethnobotanical field methods.
- Candidates should also have good quantitative data analysis skills and must document an ability to work independently and in collaboration with a research group.
- Candidates must have solid English skills; French language skills will be considered an advantage in the selection of candidates.
- The successful candidate must be able to document an ability to work in interdisciplinary teams. Specifically for this position, it is important that the candidate shows interest and motivation in working with natural scientists towards reaching common objectives.
