PhD scholarship in Biological Oceanography: DTU Aqua 876 views

A PhD Scholarship in biological oceanography is available at the National Institute of Aquatic Resources at Technical University of Denmark (DTU Aqua) with starting date 1st October 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the research:
  • The project will be carried out in the Section for Oceans and Arctic in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
  • The scholarship is part of the HORIZON2020 project ECOTIP (‘Arctic biodiversity change and its consequences: Assessing, monitoring and predicting the effects of ecosystem tipping cascades on marine ecosystem services and dependent human systems’).
  • Project focus is on the effects of multiple anthropogenic stressors (including climate change) on the Arctic biodiversity, and the potential consequences of the biodiversity change to the functioning of the marine ecosystem and the services that it provides.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree and/or experience in Marine or Aquatic Biology / Ecology
  • Experience in working with plankton and/or environmental effects in aquatic ecosystems
  • Experience in laboratory or field work within aquatic biology / ecology
  • Flexibility concerning research stays and field work in laboratories abroad
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and orally
  • Strong interest in participating in an inter-disciplinary and international research environment
  • Willingness to contribute to a positive and inspirational work atmosphere
