The Ernst Strüngmann Institute of Neuroscience is offering fully-funded PhD positions in the Schmidt lab. The lab is interested in mapping spatial navigation circuits, in particular the interplay of hippocampal neurons and cells in the medial entorhinal cortex. The modern 3D electron-microscopic methods to untangle networks underlying spatial navigation from the fascinatingly complex brains of mice and shrews are used.
Requirements:
- Candidate to be enthusiastic about neurons, the synaptic point-to-point connections they make and how they form networks that are able to compute complex tasks in the world of spatial navigation.
- Doctoral candidates (Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree holder, or equivalent) from any field (Life Sciences, Physics, Computer Science and/or Engineering) are eligible to apply.
Applications:
- Apply online should include a CV and a short description of their particular motivation.
