PhD, Improving an exciting computer organized screening and method optimization system, KU LEUVEN University, Belgium

Description:

This is a collaborative project between Janssen Pharmaceutica and the University of Leuven (KU Leuven). It focuses on automating the method development process for liquid chromatography separations. The main purpose of the project is to reassess and improve an existing automated screening and method optimization tool (COSMOS). COSMOS is developed to reduce the amount of experimentation in the method development process and base the optimization of separations on scientifically verified decisions.

 Tasks Involved:

  • Simplify the decision making process within COSMOS, and further reducing the time required to fully optimize a chromatographic method.
  • Redefinition and automation of important decisions (selection of scouting runs).
  • Algorithms (peak detection and peak tracking algorithms) throughout the method optimization procedure.
  • Investigating whether COSMOS can be expanded to multi-dimensional separations.

Disciplines: Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, Bio-informatics and Bio-engineering.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree or any equivalent degree in relevant field.

 Requirements:

  • Interest in analytical chemistry and chemo metrics.
  • An experience in (U) HPLC is important.
  • Skills in the management, analysis and interpretation of big data.
  • Solid programming skills.
  • Fluency in English language (spoken and written).
  • Excellent communication skills, multi-tasking skills.
  • Team-working and time-management.

Application procedure: A duly filled application must be submitted online (link given below). Attach complete CV and a cover letter with the application.
