The Dioscuri Centre for Chromatin Biology and Epigenomics (m/f/d) is offering Two PhD opportunities. Dioscuri is a program initiated by the Max Planck Society, managed jointly with the National Science Centre and mutually funded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
About the research:
- The primary aim of the lab is to decipher the regulatory networks orchestrating the biology of astrocytes, the major glial cell type in mammalian brain.
- To this end, the stem cell models, high throughput sequencing approaches (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, Hi-C), CRISPR-Cas9 mediated genome editing, and computational tools will be used.
- The first position is for an experimental biologist (m/f/d). The second position is foreseen for a computational biologist (m/f/d).
Requirements:
- Applications are open to highly motivated, talented, and creative scientists to join the group and identify the genetic bases of astrocyte evolution.
- A strong commitment and systematic working style are a must.
- Candidate must be holding a master’s degree in molecular/cell biology or neurosciences, bioinformatics, evolutionary genomics.
- The successful PhD student will combine induced pluripotent stem cell models and various genomics tools, to functionally characterize the regulome of astrocytes in chosen mammalian species.
- The successful candidate will use computational biology tools to integrate various ‘omics’ data and identify the regulatory elements that play critical roles for astrocyte evolution.
