Four PhD and Postdoc Positions (Biological sciences) at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology Germany under the EU RESEARCH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME, H2020 / ERC
RESEARCHER PROFILE: First Stage Researcher (R1) Recognised Researcher (R2)
STARTING DATE: 01/04/2019
Overview
The working group of F. Kragler, Department 2, Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology, located in Potsdam (close to Berlin), Germany, is looking for two Postdoc and two PhD candidates in the area of RNA / Developmental / Computational Biologists Positions
Research Area: Plant RNA – protein binding function, plant development, plant single cell sequencing with respect to intercellular communication based on graft-mobile mRNAs.
Qualifications
- Master or PhD in RNA biochemistry, plant cell biology/bioinformatics or a related disciplines and demonstrable high-level competence in analysis of RNA function, plant phenotyping, advanced gene-expression by single cell, and/or tissue specific analysis, using *advanced imaging* and *bioinformatics*.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required in this interdisciplinary study including outstanding record keeping
- Good/excellent IT literacy,
- Willingness and ability to learn new methodologies
- Strong communication skills, including demonstrable ability to write clearly and concisely in English.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the posts are
- To use, develop and improve advanced single cell sequencing (Drop-seq) approaches,
- Establish expression data analysis pipelines based on single cell transcriptomes, RNA-protein interactions, and/or imaging methods (e.g. CLSM time-lapse imaging and use and improvement of methods for in vivodetection of RNA) and associated approaches.
- The scientific questions asked relate to how RNA molecules exchanged between cells regulate plant growth and how these are transported between cells which is addressed by three working groups funded by the ERCSyg
Application Procedure
The application should include a two-page CV along with a letter of motivation stating clearly how previous experience and interests match the post requirements and career aspirations, names and addresses of two referees and should be submitted electronically as *one file (yourname_ERCSYG)* to the project coordinator Dr. Kragler (applications.kragler@mpimp-golm.mpg.de), by 31st January 2019.
