06 Postdoc positions: Bioinformatics and Cancer Genomics 1107 views

The Department of Molecular Medicine at Aarhus University is inviting applications for 06 Postdoc positions in Bioinformatics and Cancer Genomics. Candidates are expected to be highly motivated and independent for these positions.

Funding duration: 24-36 months

Starting date: March 1st 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter

About the research projects:

The six positions are associated with individual research projects and all concern analysis of large genomics data sets, as detailed below:

Position 1 & 2: these two positions will explore cancer evolution and tumor development across cancer types through the use of bioinformatics and evolutionary biology methods, focusing on NGS-based data.

Position 3: Explore the mutation processes in cancer through informatic analysis of thousands of cancer genomes.

Position 4: Explore the effect of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) and RNA binding proteins on post-transcriptional regulation in cancer using expression data from tens of thousands of cancer patients.

Position 5: Explore and characterise the landscape of intronic RNAs through analysis of more than one thousand, primarily locally generated, total RNAseq data sets. Non-coding RNAs derived from introns have received much less attention than intergenic ncRNAs.

Position 6: Explore the mutation processes in humans and related species by analyzing de novo mutations from whole-genome sequencing of parent-offspring trios.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must hold a PhD in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science or a related discipline.
  • Candidate should have the following skills: Proficiency in statistical data analysis and scientific computing, preferably with fluency in R or Python; Experience with HPC environments; Experience with handling and analysing NGS-based data
  • Applicant must possess fluency in written and spoken English.
  • A strong scientific track record and collaborative attitude
  • Experience with the biological systems in question is preferable, but not a must.

Applications:

  • Applications must include the following:
  • CV
  • Diploma
  • A list of publications as well as a teaching portfolio (maximum five publications)
  • Applications to be submitted via online application form .
