The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) invites applications for 2 PhD students in Biosensor for continuous monitoring with single-molecule resolution.
About the projects:
- The two PhD projects focus on the development of a new technology for continuous biochemical monitoring.
- The technology is based on the tracking of the motion of particles that are molecularly tethered to a substrate, where modulations of the motion indicate the presence of single biomarker molecules.
- The selected candidate will investigate the feasibility to accurately monitor biomarkers by a sandwich binding format and by a competitive binding format.
- The PhD positions are part of collaboration between the MBx group, the Chemical Biology and Protein Engineering group, the Theory of Polymers and Soft Matter group, Leiden University Medical Center, and three companies: Medtronic, Future Diagnostics, and Anteryon.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be enthusiastic students holding M.Sc. degree, preferably in Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or Nanotechnology.
- An interest in Physical Chemistry or Biophysics is required.
- Experience in advanced microscopies or single-molecule methods would bean asset.
Application:
- Apply online and must include all of the following:
- A personal motivation letter
- CV including the names and contact details of at least two references
- Transcripts of BSc and MSc degrees with courses and grades
- A digital copy of BSc and MSc theses (if these are very large, you can send them by email).
