University of Copenhagen is inviting applications for two Marie Curie PhD fellows interested in pushing the boundaries of rapid biomechanics simulation for personalized clinical design with us at Faculty of Science, Department of Computer Science. The selected candidates will be enrolled as PhD students in Computer Science starting 1 September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the positions:

Position 1: the candidate will investigate the use of finite element analysis for understanding of pre-arthrosis deformities and related surgeries.

Position 2: the candidate will investigate real-time physically- based deformable registration techniques to align these 3D geometries to intra-operative images.

Duration: 3 years
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • To manage and carry through your research project
  • Attend PhD courses
  • Write scientific articles and your PhD thesis
  • Disseminate your research
  • To stay at an external research institution for a few months, preferably abroad
Requirements:
  • Applicants must hold an MSc degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field without standing grades.
  • Applicants must possess Strong programming skills, Strong mathematical background and proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • As criteria for the assessment of your qualifications emphasis will also be laid on awards and honors, previous scientific publications in recognized peer-reviewed venues (if any) and relevant professional qualifications and work experience.
  • It is an advantage if the candidate has experience with one or more of the following topics: Differential and Riemannian geometry; Numerical optimization; Geometry and topology; Image analysis/computer vision; Simulation and scientific computing.
