2 RA/Postdocs: Architectures, Algorithms and In-lab Demonstration of 5G Radar 1010 views

The University of Luxembourg and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications for two Research Associates (Postdocs) in Architectures, Algorithms and In-lab Demonstration of 5G Radar (M/F).

Duration: Fixed-term contract 2 years, full-time position

Role and responsibilities:
  • Motivated by the 5G communication paradigm and the platform it offers, widely separated multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems are being investigated in the context of 5G Radar.
  • This emerging field opens interesting avenues for pursuing research in radar signal processing and joint radar-communication, especially on: Relevant architectures for 5G radar including high level information exchange mechanisms; Associated signal-processing elements including waveform and receiver design as well as their adaptation to dynamic scenarios; In-lab demonstration for dynamic environments with focus on the automotive sector.

Requirements:

  • The candidate should hold (or be in the process of completing) a PhD degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics.
  • Candidate should have research project-based experience (FP7/H2020, Industry) and publication record in a number of the following topics: Active Sensing and Radar Systems; Widely Separated MIMO Radar, Waveform Design and Signal Processing; Target Classification and Recognition; Statistical Signal Processing; Machine/Deep Learning Applied to Radar Systems; In-lab Demonstration; Optimization theory, algorithms and Linear Algebra.
  • Exposure to USRP/SDR implementation and familiarity with FPGA programming is considered as an advantage.
  • Development skills in one of the programming languages, MATLAB, LabView or C++ are required.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.

Applications:

Application should be submitted online and include:

  • Full CV, including list of publications and name (and email address, etc) of three referees
  • Transcript of all modules and results from university-level courses taken
  • Research statement and topics of particular interest to the candidate (300 words).
