2 Scientist B positions at NIRT – ICMR: National Institute For Research in Tuberculosis (Indian Council of Medical Research): Applications are invited for two posts of Scientist ‘B’ (1-Immunology, 1-Statistics) at the ICMR’s National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai.

Pay Band PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs. 5400/- (pre-revised VI CPC) & other usual allowances as admissible as per Government norms.

Scientist B (Immunology) (1 post)

Essential Qualification:

  1. MBBS recognized by MCI with 2 years experience in the field of Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology Or Ist class Master’s degree in Immunology or Biotechnology/Molecular or IInd class M.Sc. + Ph.D degree in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification:

  1. Doctorate in Immunology or Biotechnology or Biology
  2. Additional Post-doc research/teaching experience in Immunology or Biotechnology or Molecular Biology in recognized institute (s)
  3. Knowledge of Computer Applications / Data Management.
  4. Two years R&D/Teaching experience in relevant subject after obtaining essential qualification.

Job requirements:

The candidate will be required to participate in the ongoing research projects in Immunology or Biotechnology or Molecular Biology of the department. He/She will be expected to initiate newer research studies in the areas of pathogenesis, immunology and/or molecular genetics of mycobacteria.

Notes:

  1.  Ph.D. or MD/DM in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology shall be treated equivalent to three years experience respectively.
  1.  Candidates with MD/DM or Ph.D. will be preferred for direct recruitment.

 Scientist ‘B’ (Statistics) (1 post)

Essential Qualification:

  1. First Class Master’s degree in Statistics from a recognized university.Or
  1. Second class M.Sc.in Statistics + Ph.D. in Statistics from a recognized University.

Desirable qualification:

  1.  Doctorate in Statistics from a recognised University.
  2. Additional Postdoc research/teaching experience in Statistics in recognized institute(s)
  3. Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/Data Management.
  4. Two years R & D in health research/Teaching experience in Statistics after obtaining

Eessential qualification.

Job Requirements:

  1. The candidate will be required to participate in clinical trials in planning, monitoring,analyzing and interpreting trials data and associated laboratory experiments.
  2. Also analyze and interpret large databases including census, National Sample Surveys.
  3. Work with Statistical / epidemiological packages like SPSS, SAS, STATA and
  4. Conduct training programs/teaching for statisticians and non-statisticians on basic and advanced statistical methods.
