The Goethe Goes Global scholarship’s purpose is to foster the academic career and at the same time provide support to the successful candidate during their study of the degree.

  • At least 2/3 of the bachelor’s degree or another equivalent or higher degree at a university outside Germany must have been completed by the applicant at the time of application.

Scholarship Value: The Global Scholarship includes:

  • A monthly amount of 1,000€
  • Mentoring, support and guidance from an experienced master’s student buddy during the study period
  • Access to seminars focusing on professional skills at Graduate Academy (GRADE).
  • It should be noted that GRADE is normally open only to PhD students and postdocs.
  • Opportunity to work in an innovative research environment and networks that connect the candidates with fellow scholarship holders and other advanced researchers
  • Goethe University’s Research Support Office would provide full support to help the student establish their careers

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must:

  • either hold or be in the process of obtaining an excellent bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a university outside Germany
  • must be ready to do a PhD once the masters course is completed.
  • passionate about his/her work
  • highly motivated to conduct research
  • looking forward for a hands-on experience in research
  • ready to exchange ideas and work in a team
  • must have a very good hold over his/her academic discipline and should be particularly interested in research
  • The applicant must check which Master degree program he/she is interested in and whether the application requirements, such as language skills, academic background, etc are fulfilled.
  • The scholarship should work as a stepping stone to start a successful, international career and funding for the master’s programme

How to apply: The mode of application is online

Application Process:

  • The scholarship application is a part of the master’s programme application. The applicant must first start an application for the desired programme.
  • This means that either the candidate can follow procedure number 1 or number 2 given below, depending on the programme chosen.

Procedure: 1

  • For programmes that require an online application via uni-assist the scholarship application can be found within the master’s programme application.
  • All required documents for the scholarship application must be submitted online.

Procedure: 2

  • For programmes that require to apply directly through their department, the applicant can submit the scholarship application along with the master’s programme application to the department.
  • The applicant must visit the programme’s webpage to find out if there are specific instructions for the scholarship application.

Application Deadline:

  • The scholarship deadline is the same date as the application deadline of the master’s programme one applies for.
  • It should be noted that each master’s programme has its own application deadline and it is subject to change.
