The Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS) with funding of the Einstein Centre Chronoi “Time and Awareness of Time in Ancient Societies” is offering at Freie Universität Berlin and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin 8 PhD fellowships. The fellowships are available in Ancient Studies and Related Disciplines.
Starting Date: 01 January 2019

- Ancient Languages and Texts (ALT)
- Ancient Objects and Visual Studies (AOViS)
- Ancient Philosophy and History of Ancient Science (APhil/HistAS)
- Landscape Archaeology and Architecture (LAA)
- Languages and Cultures of the Silk Road (Silk Road)
Requirements:
- Applications are invited from highly qualified graduates from any field of ancient studies, or from a closely related discipline.
- Applicant must possess an excellent Master’s degree, or equivalent degree.
Fellowship value: stipend of 1350 euros per month
Duration: 2 years; extension for a 3rd year after positive evaluation towards the end of the second year.
Selection criteria:
- The proposed dissertation project must be accepted by a potential supervisor.
- Previous establishment of contact to a potential supervisor is mandatory.
