The Division of Social Sciences is inviting applications for three open PhD positions at history unit at Luleå University of technology.

Subject description
  • History is the study of humans as social beings with an emphasis on the development, organisation and change of societies over time.
  • The research specializes in the examination of the history of technology at the interface of natural resources, humans and the environment.
  • This includes both how technology has had an impact on humans and society, and how humans have influenced the development of technology.

Duration: limited to four years

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must generally have a Master´s degree of which at least one year (equivalent of 60Hp) at the advanced level.
  • At least 2 years (equivalent of 120 Hp) of history of which at least 30 Hp including a final thesis work of at least 15 Hp on advanced level or equivalent.
  • Very strong communicative skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of Swedish, both verbally and in writing is advantageous.
