3 PhD Scholarships: LIFE Farm4More 1208 views

University College Dublin (UCD) is inviting applications for three PhD positions in LIFE Farm4More. LIFE Farm4More is an EU funded LIFE project led by UCD, that aims to generate novel animal feed products from novel biorefinery and biochar technologies that will allow for climate change mitigation in agricultural animal protein production, to be achieved. The project is coordinated by Prof Kevin McDonnell, School of Biosystems & Food Engineering, University College Dublin.

About the project:

LIFE Farm4More goals:

• Designing and operating climate mitigating optimal grass-silage fed-Green Biorefinery and biochar technologies.
• Produce climate mitigating optimal animal feeding strategies based on extensive animal feeding trials that will be performed on the biorefinery- and biochar- produced animal feed products,.
• Develop and apply climate mitigating optimal land management strategies for all biorefinery input substrates that will be sourced.

PhD projects:

1. PhD Studentship in Biosensors as Monitoring and Control Systems for LIFE Farm4More’s Biorefinery Technologies
2. PhD Studentship in Creating animal feeding strategies for LIFE Farm4More’s biorefinery animal feed products.
3. PhD Studentship in LIFE Farm4More’s Dynamic Life Cycle Assessment

Funding: €18,000 tax free stipend per annum (+ contribution of fees up to €7,120 per annum)

Duration: up to 4 years
