The Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History, Department of Archaeology is inviting applications for up to five 3-year funded PhD positions.

Qualifications:
- Applicant must hold or expected to hold Master’s degree or qualification equivalent in Archaeology, Geoarchaeology, Archaeological Science, Biomolecular Archaeology, Biology, Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Applicant must hold strong record of examination at undergraduate and masters level and training and experience in the proposed methodological specialism.
- Applicant must also possess practical experience with proposed field and/or laboratory techniques.
- Applicants having experience of fieldwork or laboratory research focused on Asia or Africa; working in cultural resource management (contract archaeology) or in academic excavation and scientific research settings would have advantage.
