The Harry Ransom Center in the United States is inviting applications for its 2018–2019 research fellowships.
The fellowships are for humanities. It includes:
- literature
- photography
- film
- art
- the performing arts
- music and
- cultural history
The Ransom Center is an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum. It is located at The University of Texas at Austin.
It has very rich and extensive collections. This collection provides ample opportunity for students and helps them into enhance the creative process of writing, filming, painting etc
Number of Scholarships: The ransom centre aims at providing 60 scholarships in total for its 2018–2019 fellowship program. The break up for projects that require substantial on-site use of its collections is as follows:-
- 10 dissertation fellowships and
- 50 postdoctoral fellowships

Scholarship Value: It includes:-
- A fellowship of 1 to 3 months would be given.
- An amount of $3,500 per month would be provided to domestic candidates and
- $4,000 per month would be provided to International candidates
- The fellowships are available for independent or post-doctoral scholars whose projects require extensive work with the Ransom Center’s collections.
- Travel Stipends are available for post-doctoral or independent scholars whose projects require less than one month’s work with the Center’s collections. Travel stipends shall not be combined with other Ransom Center fellowships.
- Domestic students would receive $2,000 and
- International candidates would get $2,500
- Dissertation Fellowships $2,000 (Domestic) and $2,500 (International):-
- The Creekmore and Adele Fath Charitable Foundation and the University of Texas at Austin Office of Graduate Studies would provide support in the form of 10 Dissertation Fellowships.
- Graduate students whose doctoral dissertations require use of the Center’s collections can avail the Dissertation Fellowships.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The recipients who have applied previously for Ransom Center fellowships are eligible to reapply after 2 full fellowship cycles have passed.
- The applicant should have a Ph.D. or an impressive record of professional achievements.
- The professional as well as other achievements should be clearly mentioned in detailed curriculum vitae.
- If the Ph.D. is in-progress at the time of application, the proposal and letters of recommendation must clearly indicate completion by June 1, 2018.
- The successful applicants in order to accept the scholarship must complete the Ph.D. by the deadline.
- Dissertation fellowships are open to doctoral candidates engaged in dissertation research by the time of application.
- No test is required
- All international applicants who do not have English as the native tongue must provide proof of competence in the English language.

Documents Required:
- A 3 page project proposal
- 1 or 2 letters of recommendation as outlined below.
- It should be uploaded as PDF files to the Ransom Center’s online application system.
Application process: The applicant should:-
- Create a fellowship account
- Upon successful creation of the account, a fellowship account number would be given which one must use to submit the proposal, and which the referee(s) must use to submit the required letter(s) of recommendation.
- Once submitted the information cannot be changed
- The applicants who have previously applied for Ransom Center fellowships must create a new account for 2018–2019. The accounts from previous applications cannot be reused.
