7 fully-funded PhD Studentships: Social Sciences 1249 views

Loughborough University invites applications for up to seven fully funded studentships in the School of Social Sciences. The candidates must be highly motivated and talented scholars able to extend the School’s reputation for excellent, adventurous, cutting-edge research.

Duration: 3 years (full time)

Starting date: 1 October 2019

About the project:
  • The selected candidate will be working in areas of human and physical geography, communications and media, social and policy studies and politics and international studies.
  • The recruited candidates will be excellent researchers with interests in climate science and hydroclimatic extremes, migration and mobility, urban development and economy; digital media, social theory and cultural consumption, Black British culture, culture and social inequality, interpersonal communication; poverty – child poverty and inequality; bioethics and biomedicine; Cold war decolonisation, militarism, war and gender.

Funding:

  • a tax-free stipend of £14,777 per annum plus tuition fees at the UK/EU rate

Requirements:

  • Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in the major subject of their research field or a related subject.
  • A relevant master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Applicants must meet the minimum English Language requirements.
