Anne McLaren Fellowships

Anne McLaren Fellowships, offered by University of Nottingham, are aimed to encourage outstanding female scholars in science, technology, engineering and medicine at the early stage of their academic careers.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must have been awarded their PhD prior to the submission deadline.
  2. Applicants should have no more than 8 years of post-doctoral experience after the award of their PhD. Career breaks such as maternity leave, EU national service, and Voluntary Service Overseas can be discounted, but teaching experience or time spent in industry since the PhD awarded should amount to no more than 96 months.
  3. Candidates for the Anne McLaren Fellowshipsmust be female and pursuing a career in a STEM subject.
  4. Candidates must have experience sufficient to confirm their ability to complete the proposed work.

Besides above qualification, applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  1. An excellent track record of research including high-quality publications, research funding and/or prizes and awards
  2. Proof of a growing reputation, both nationally and internationally
  3. An aptitude to lead and inspire others within the research team and institution quite broadly
  4. Ability to act as an ambassador in their research field

Duration: Three years independent funding, normally starting October 2017, to conduct research while taken at The University of Nottingham

Salary: Competitive salary between £28,982 and £46,414 (Level 4 or 5 R&T) contingent on experience. Additional childcare costs of up to £5000 per annum where appropriate will be given. It also includes Relocation expenses of up to £1500

How to apply:

The application process for this scheme is a four-stage process.

  1. Ist step: candidates requires to make contact with the school or department where they are interested in applying.
  2. IInd stage: It includes submission of an Expression of Interest form (EOI), which provides a brief outline of proposed project and details about the candidate. Forms must be submitted to the named contactin the host school or department.
  3. After review of the expression of interest submissions, short-listed candidates will be invited to submit a full application. The deadline for full applications to be submitted tofellowships@nottingham.ac.uk .
  4. Candidates will be notified in early March regarding invitations to attend an interview.
