Application Scientist (m/f): MPI of Biochemistry 1150 views

The Max Planck Institute (MPI) of Biochemistry invites applications for the post of Application Scientist (m/f) Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS).

Task and responsibilities:

  • Recipient will be operating and developing NGS service, with a focus primarily on library preparation for CHIP-Seq and RNA-Seq.
  • Scientist will be discussing experiment design and experimental results with the users from the scientific departments and will oversee sample preparation by one technician.
  • Scientist will also analyse and distribute data, in close collaboration with the bioinformatics service group.
  • Candidate is expected to stay abreast of changing technology, including equipment and protocols.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must hold a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology or another relevant scientific discipline
  • Applicant is expected to have experience in Next-Generation Sequencing technology, in particular, in library preparation.
  • Applicant must have some previous exposure to automation/liquid handling and bioinformatics and its application to NGS data
  • Applicant must possess and excellent communication skills when interacting with end users.

Duration: initially for 2 years
