Apply Two Postdoc Positions in Political Science 1311 views

The Department of Social Sciences of the University of Basel is looking two Postdoc resercher in Political Science, for a duration of two years initially, with possible extension to six years. The starting date of the positions is 1 March 2020, or later. Salary is standardized based on University of Basel guidelines.

Position details

Position 1:

  1. Develop an independent research agenda in the field of Political Sociology, such as political behavior, party competition, representation, populism, inequality, or political communication
  2. Teaching: 2 hours/semester
  3. Contribute to the activities at the Political Science department, as well as to student supervision and tutoring

Position 2:

  1. Develop an independent research agenda in the field of Comparative Politics, such as representation, party research, political methodology, or political communication
  2. Teaching: 2 hours/semester
  3. Contribute to the activities at the Political Science department, as well as to student supervision and tutoring

Required Qualifications

  1. PhD in Political Science or Sociology
  2. Strong command of R and/or Stata
  3. Skills in quantitative methods and/or computational methods (e.g. text-as-data methods, machine learning)
  4. Willingness to contribute to the university’s self-administration
  5. Didactic competence and enthusiasm for teaching
  6. Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, and to contribute to the academic activities and further development of the Political Science department
  7. Strong command of English. Knowledge of German is a plus (part of courses are taught in German)
