Australian National University (ANU) Postgraduate research or a higher degree by research (HDR) program is a research focused degree generally taken by students who has completed a prior degree with a significant research component.

Australian National University Postgraduate research degrees include PhD, M.Phil and professional doctorates.

Eligibility:

  • Candidate should hold or be about to complete, an Australian Bachelor Degree with at least 2nd Class Honors. Generally Upper 1st Class Honors is required or its international equivalent/PG Degree with a major research thesis component.
  • A mentor should be ready at ANU keen to supervise your research.
  • All aspirants must meet the University’s English Language proficiency requirements for students.

How to apply

Applications can be sent throughout the year. But if candidate is applying for a research scholarship, deadline of the scholarship application must be checked.

  1. Fulfill the College pre-application requirements: Colleges will ask aspirants to identify and secure the support of a supervisor before submission of application for admission. Some Colleges may ask applicants to submit a short description of their proposed area of research as an expression of interest and a summary of their academic qualifications, including grades, to a central contact first.
  2. Submit the Application & referee reports
