Beinecke Visiting Doctoral Student Summer Fellowships 3878 views

Beinecke Visiting Doctoral Student Summer Fellowships is dedicated to Graduate students (doctoral candidates) currently registered in PhD or DPhil programs from across the country and around the world. These fellowships back graduate students who are keen to use Beinecke collections as a primary resource for their dissertation research.

Duration: For the period of June 1 to August 31

The fellowship is granted for one, two, or three months; must be taken up between June 1 and August 31

Benefit: travel costs to and from New Haven & living allowance of $3,000/month.

Note: awardees are expected to be in residence during the period of fellowship and must participate in the activities of Yale University. Awarded fellows are not allowed to hold concurrent teaching positions or any concurrent fellowships.

Requirements:

• Applicant must be graduate students and be currently registered in a PhD or doctoral program and must have completed their course work, passed their qualifying examinations, and be prepared to pursue research based upon an approved dissertation prospectus/proposal.
• At the end of the research period, fellows will be asked to provide a short statement indicating how this fellowship support was used to accomplish research goals.

Applications:

Applicants are required to submit the following materials to the Director of the Beinecke Library:

• Fill online application form 
• CV
• Proposal of max 1200 words, explaining in detail the specific relationship between the Beinecke Collections and the applicant’s research
• List of specific research materials to be consulted at Beinecke during the fellowship.
• 2 confidential letters of recommendation sent to the Director, one of them must come from the principal director of the applicant’s dissertation
• Approved dissertation proposal
• Recommenders must submit letters via the internet or postal mail.

Awards will be notified approximately 8 weeks following application deadlines.
