CoQuS PhD Fellowships: Quantum Science 931 views

University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology invite applications for the Vienna Doctoral Program on Complex Quantum Systems (CoQuS). As part of this programme, candidate’s training and research ranges from the most fundamental aspects of quantum science to advanced applications of quantum technologies – in both theory and experiment.

Study areas:
  • How can we understand the structure of Quantum Theory?
  • Why do we encounter classicality?
  • How can we explore the interface between quantum physics and gravity?
  • Which mesoscopic properties emerge from the dynamics of complex quantum systems?

Requirements:

  • Applicant must not have yet started their PhD studies OR who are within their first 6 months of PhD studies at the two universities which are affiliated to the CoQuS programme (University of Vienna and TU Wien).
  • Applicant must hand over the application before the cut-off date (the application deadline).
  • Applicant must not have applied more than once within their first 6 months of PhD studies.
  • Applicants who has not applied before.

Fellowship value:

  • A gross salary around 2000€/month (this includes tax & health benefits)
  • A tuition waiver

Application:

The application process is a TWO step procedure:

  1. Applicants are requested to provide their application documents via the online submission system and inform their academic advisors about the submission guidelines concerning the recommendation procedure.

Applicant must submit the following:

  • Online application
  • Online recommendation form to be submitted by 2 academic advisors
  1. Short-listed candidates will be invited to a two-day hearing taking place in Vienna in 15 & 16 Oct. 2018.
  • The applicants will be asked to give short presentations and will be interviewed by the selection committee.
  • The applicants will also have the opportunity to visit the CoQuS laboratories.
  • The short-listed applicants will be notified of the final decision of the selection committee shortly after the hearing.
