Doctoral fellow: Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law 866 views

The Institute for International Research on Criminal Policy (IRCP), Department of Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law at Ghent University is seeking a full-time doctoral fellow (Dehousse fellow) for the interdisciplinary research project “UN-MENAMAIS: Understanding the Mechanisms, Nature, Magnitude and Impact of Sexual Violence in Belgium”.  The selected candidate will work closely with other researchers in a young and ambitious interdisciplinary research team that has set itself the goal of achieving groundbreaking research results in the study of crime victimization.

Requirements:
  • Applicant must hold a master’s degree in a relevant area Criminology, Psychology, Sociology. Candidates who graduate in September 2019 are also encouraged to apply;
  • Applicant must have achieved excellent study results during studies and have knowledge of and experience with quantitative methods and techniques;
  • Applicant must possess excellent proficiency, written and spoken, in English;
  • Applicant must be result-oriented, analytical, and thoughtful and have good organizational qualities and you can work together in a team;
  • Research experience, publications and/or presentations at scientific conferences are desirable;
  • Knowledge of and experience with sexual violence research are desirable;
  • Proficiency, written and spoken, in Dutch is desirable

Starting date: 1 October 2019;

Duration: 18 months doctoral fellowship (Dehousse fellow) with the possibility of extension for 4 years
