The Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education at University of Luxembourg invites applications for a Doctoral candidate (PhD) in the field of sociolinguistics in vocational education context (m/f).

Starting date: October 15, 2019

Duration: 14-month initial contract; extendable up to 3 years

About the position:
  • The selected candidate will conduct research under the guidance of a supervisory team including local and international experts, with the aim of studying towards a PhD in Sociolinguistics or Education
  • Publish research results and present them at conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Opportunities to teach, depending on experience and course availability.
  • The successful candidate will develop research broadly related to the field of language and work, with a particular focus on vocational education/adult education/informal learning.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Sociolinguistics, Semiotics, Communication, Cultural Studies, Education or related disciplines of high quality.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and knowledge of at least one of the other official languages of the UL, French or German
  • Willingness to integrate in an interdisciplinary and multilingual research team
