The Department IEK-14 – Electrochemical Process Engineering at Forschungszentrum Jülich (member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres) is inviting applications for Doctoral student (f / m / d) in components for future fuel cell generations.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Determination of the status quo at BPP for fuel cells in automotive applications, taking into account the materials / coatings used, flow field structures, design approaches, operating parameters, experimental and theoretical results
- Preliminary investigations of BPP design variants with the aim of determining a basic concept suitable for the application based on known BPP designs
- Experimental (focus assessment of the two-phase flow) and simulation-based (CFD) work
- Creation of concepts for scale-up and stack assembly in order to achieve a fuel cell stack performance sufficient for automotive applications
- Carrying out quality and functional tests of the BPP in fuel cells including experimental tests (ex-situ and fuel cell operation) on the various prototype generations of the BPP
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold degree in Process Engineering, Energy Technology, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable degree completed with good performance
- Previous knowledge of construction is required
- Previous knowledge of ANSYS (CFD, FEM) and LabView are advantageous
- Interest in the development of new approaches
- Independent and analytical way of working
- Very good spoken and written German and English skills
