National University of Ireland (NUI) invites applications for an Early Stage Researcher (PhD student) in bioinformatics/immunoinformatics (Quantitative T cell Immunology and Immunotherapy (QuanTII)). The position is available at School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics. This position is funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (ITN).
About the position:
- The selected candidate will register as a PhD student in bioinformatics at National University of Ireland Galway, under the primary supervision of Prof. Cathal Seoighe
- The selected candidate will undertake research as part of the QuanTII network (specifically the development of methods and computational tools relating to the anlaysis of T cell repertoire diversity) and will participate in training activities of the network.
- The research project will involve collaboration with members of the network, including participating in research visits to other member institutions.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must be Undergraduate or hold MSc degree in a relevant discipline, such as Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or the Molecular Life Sciences.
- Applicant must hold excellent academic track record; communication, organization and interpersonal skills and a passion for scientific discovery.
- Applicant must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Ireland for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately prior to the date of selection (to ensure the European character of an ITN project)
- Applicant must be capable of writing computer code; experience of statistical data analysis.
