ERC Starting Grants for Post-doctoral Researchers

 Overview

ERC Starting Grants are awarded to excellent researchers (any nationality) with 2-7 years of experience after PhD completion, a scientific track-record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal.

A Starting Grant (StG) typically has a duration of five (05) years with a budget of 1.5 Mio Euros. As such, these funds contribute to the establishment of an independent team to implement a research project. In order to be eligible to apply for an ERC 2020 Starting Grant, the ERC requests:

  1. Principal Investigator (PI) shall have been awarded her/his first PhD at least two and up to seven years prior (Cut-off dates: PhD awarded from January 1st 2020 to December 31st 2020 (inclusive)).
  2. PIs have to spend a minimum of 50% of their total working time on the ERC StG.
